Content Your Audience Needs (and Wants!)

Brief Description

Content your audience needs!
Content your audience needs!

How do you know if you’re putting out content that will drive engagement, and ultimately help grow your community and customer base? One of the biggest pain points we hear from small businesses is lack of engagement. They pour their heart and soul into creating quality content for their platforms and it is met with some half-hearted enthusiasm. This may be because your content isn’t actually content your audience needs (or wants).

Lucky for you, we’ve made a list of the four types of content your audience needs and will actually respond to!

  1. Knowledge: Show your audience that you know your stuff by giving tips and tricks to help them up their skills. This is your chance to give them a little bit of insight into why they should work with you!
  2. Something relatable: Whether it’s lockdown vibes, your pets, or  anything else that will give your audience insight into who you are as a human – this is useful because it helps build Know Like Trust, and show your audience, why they want to work with you.
  3. Your portfolio: This is where you show off. Finished products, client successes, etc. Show your audience the results they could get from working with you.
  4. Behind the Scenes: This is where you give your audience a sneak peek into your process and how you work. This is your chance to show a little bit of how your team works and how things come together.

How do you figure out what your audience wants?

Simple, ask them!

Throw up a poll in your IG stories and ask what your audience wants to see.

For instance, here at GEM, we would ask you if you’d rather see drone shots OR Close ups. Then we might ask if you’d rather see Finished Products OR Behind the Scenes .

It’s an easy thing to do and it helps your content get more engagement.

How do you get your audience involved?

By including a CTA in your content, you are inviting your audience to participate. It could be as simple as including a poll in your IG stories- or as complex as a giveaway that requires them to share your post.

Whatever path you take, the main task, is to get your audience to participate in an easy and fun way. Ask too much, and they won’t do it. Don’t ask at all, and they will likely not engage with your post at all.

Seems simple enough right?
